Frequently Asked Questions
Is it going to be Bachata dancing and Bachata music all weekend long?
Evening weekend parties are a balanced blend between bachata, salsa/cha cha in the main room and zouk in another room. It's just like a bachata social, but with intermissions of salsa and cha cha...Brazilian zouk is in a separate room!
Workshops are 50% bachata and 50% zouk this year.
Do I need a partner to take the workshops?
No. Most people come without one. You'll rotate partners during the workshops and the GoDanceMambo volunteers will be there to balance partner ratios.
I don't know any bachata or zouk. Can I still participate in this event?
If you've had any movement classes, or any partner dancing, yes. There is an intro to bachata and zouk on Friday night. Saturday night there is an all-level bachata workshop at 8pm. Saturday and Sunday you will join the Beginner/Intermediate levels on the main floor. You can also become more prepared by taking our Bachata Bootcamp. Start taking the beginner bachata classes at 5:15-6pm our Sunday Salsa Social, and zouk at 6:15-7pm, if you live in Toronto.
What are the payment methods? Paypal, or cash. Please email info@godancmambo.com if you want to pay by cheque.
I just want to take one workshop during the weekend.
We cannot sell workshops by the hour or we'd have to ask everyone to leave the room every hour and have their wristbands checked. Great news thougth! We are the only festival that now sells blocks of 3 hours! Each day there are 6 hours of workshops, 3 in bachata, 3 in zouk. This way people aren't coming in and out, arriving late, and causing distractions. We also maintain equal partners throughout the day.
I don't want to buy earlybird tickets as I may be away that weekend for work. Can I pay as I go?
Yes. View all package prices here. Just know that the earlybirds guarantee your spot. If we sell out, there's a high risk you won't be able to take workshops as we have limited capacity. Pay as you go is also higher in price.
Can i film the workshops? Not the whole hour. Ask your instructor if he/she is ok with filming the last 5 minutes ie condensed version of the workshop.
Can i film the evening shows? Yes.
How many workshop tickets are there? What is the capacity?
There are 500 tickets available. In 2011 it was a full house, so 2012 will be packed with more cities getting involved! We will likely change the venue as of 2013.
