Semi-Pro Team Audition

(April 8-October 10 Thanksgiving)

for Canada Salsa Congress performance

Just COME OUT!!! No individual dancing will be required, only following a choreography.

Stephanie, Rafael & Damarys are putting together an advanced hard-core salsa group for the Canada Salsa Congress. The emphasis is on developing body movement, musicality, technique and performance skills.
We are looking for 2 groups to be in the same choreography: (changed February 26)

Auditions: Sunday, March 21, 2-4pm @Dovercourt House, 1st floor. Don't think too much about it! JUST SHOW UP if you want to be in this kind of group.

Not all 2 groups will be rehearsing altogether for the first few months.

Requirements: Very positive attitude, ability to cooperate with team members, high commitment, punctuality, advanced knowledge of technique and hungry to learn more, want to be challenged, not scared of trying new moves, will wear any kind of costume, bring acting skills to your performance, improve your musicality.

Dance Experience Needed: Int/Adv salsa levels, are used to social dancing, have had other dance experience besides Latin, have been in a previous performance group.

What You''ll learn: Semi-Pro teams become a lifestyle. They are highly focused and challenging. Team members are your first or second family. Learn precision, control, bodywork, rhythm, performance technique. Rafael & Damarys(choreographers), and Stephanie (Stylist/Director) are all professional dancers who,combined, have been trained in everything from jazz, modern, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, hip hop and all Latin dances. This is a great opportunity to condense years of technique into the semi-pro team training.

Cost: To be announced once you're accepted. Payment Options/Installments will be presented. 

Dates: April-October 2010

Spring Body Training Monday nights 7-8:30pm

Choreography & Performance Training Partnerwork Mondays 8:30-10pm.

Men's & Ladies' Training Thursdays 8:30-10pm.

You'll be coming to the studio 2x a week. Extra rehearsals will be on Sunday afternoons and random times on Fridays and Saturdays at people's houses or rented out studios.

Costume and travel fees will be additional to the Program Fees.

The Routine will be danced at other events. We are looking into performing at the San Fransisco Congress in November, SalsaGlam in Montreal Dec 31 and any other local opportunity. TBC. We expect to start a second routine Oct-April 2011 and dance at the Toronto Bachata Festival February 19, and the New Jersey Salsa Congress end of April 2011.
